Since 2010, Sonia and Sacha Bender warmly receive their guests in their small traditional winstub in the historic center of Obernai, installed near the ramparts. On the Freiberg’s program, friendly and benevolent service, as well as traditional and creative cuisine, flattered by a cheerful wine list.
In the kitchen, Sacha revisits Alsatian traditions in his own way by sublimating the good local products. After an apprenticeship in the illustrious Maison Kammerzell in Strasbourg from 1985 to 1987, he worked in various renowned and starred places such as La Pinède in Saint-Tropez, Guy Savoy in Paris and Daniel Boulud in New York.
In the dining room, Sonia, all smiles, is busy translating her husband’s cuisine in the best way by his presence and his experienced service.
Because the Alsatian terroir is incomplete without its vineyards, the establishment gives pride of place to wines thanks to its brand new cellar, with exceptional Grands Crus, many organic references, as well as big names from the Rhône Valley, Burgundy and Bordeaux.
