In the heart of Alsace's vineyards
Founded in 1895 by the famous ampelographer Chrétien Oberlin, the Domaine Viticole de la Ville de Colmar enjoys a privileged location in the heart of Alsace’s vineyards. Its 40 hectares of vineyards stretch mainly from Eguisheim to Ribeauvillé, offering a diversity of terroirs, geological richness and exceptional exposure.
Philosophy
Today, the estate holds the HVE3 label, the highest environmental certification resulting from the Grenelle de l’environnement environmental initiative. This label certifies the implementation of biodiversity-friendly practices. The estate is also in the process of converting to organic farming, and the first vintage will be ready for release in 2023.
Terroirs
The estate brings together 8 prestigious Grands Crus appellations (Pfersigberg, Steingrubler, Hengst, Florimont, Kaefferkopf, Schlossberg, Sporen, Schoenenbourg), 3 terroirs lieux-dits (Altenbourg, Schieferberg and Rosenbourg), as well as the monopoly of the vineyards of the Hospices Civils Louis Pasteur de Colmar (3.5 ha) and Clos Saint Jacques (10 ha adjoining the winery).
The wines
The domaine makes sincere, generous wines that go well with all the world’s cuisines, wines to share and wines of terroir that need time to grow and express themselves. The team will be delighted to welcome you to the cellar and the boutique to help you discover our range of wines over a tasting session.
