In the aftermath of the Second World War, Victor and Amélie Roth owned a few vines as part of their farming business. Their son, Robert Roth, gave his name to the estate in the 1970s. His untimely death in 1986 came at a time when business was booming. His sons, Christophe and Patrick, were just 25 and 19 at the time. After much soul-searching, they took a new turn and turned their attention to organic farming for the sake of human health and the health of the vines. Later, in 2019, they will obtain certification. In 2017, Patrick’s son Victor, an engineer-oenologist trained by renowned personalities and a traveler at heart, gave a new dynamic to the estate. The estate has grown from 13 ha to 18 ha.
Philosophy
The winegrower’s role is to showcase them and pass on this ancestral heritage. The same grape varieties from different locations, harvested and vinified at the same time, will preserve the markers of the place above all. With no inputs or corrections, the domaine lets the wine reveal itself through natural fermentation and ageing on lees for one to two years.
