Producing great wines for centuries
When Éric Rominger and his wife, Claudine, moved to Westhalten, they redeveloped abandoned, overgrown plots of land on hillsides that would later become Grands Crus. They expanded the farm created earlier by Eric’s father, from 1.5 ha to over 10 ha today. Claudine is now responsible for the prosperity of the estate, with the invaluable help of the entire team who take care of the vineyard.
In tune with nature, the estate has been progressing towards biodynamic agriculture since 2000 (DEMETER certified in 2012).
The estate is driven by a passion for the vine, respecting the rhythms of both man and nature. While Éric and Claudine were always free to make their own choices from the outset, they are enriched by the many exchanges of experience with their colleagues. They consider each wine as a birth, and take great pleasure in sharing this happiness in the bottle.
In the heart of the Vallée Noble, the estate boasts several fine terroirs, including the Grands Crus Zinnkoepflé and Saering. The Zinnkoepflé hill, as its name suggests, is a sunny terroir. It benefits from a privileged location and climate, and consists of sandstone-limestone soil.
As for the Grand Cru Saering, its marl-sandstone terroir promises delicate wines, full of finesse and restraint.
