A family wine history
The Eblin-Fuchs estate was formed in 1956 by the marriage of Henry Eblin and Madeleine Fuchs, both from old winegrowing families. Taken over by their children in 1991, the family business has gone from strength to strength. In 1997, Christian Ebin and Laurence Leininger married and, in 2006, added new parcels to expand the estate: the Grand Crus Rosacker and Muehlforst in Hunawihr and Mandelberg in Mittelwihr.
Philosophy
Christian Eblin was trained in and sensitive to organic and biodynamic farming from an early age, and began to steer clear of chemicals in the 1990s. It is imbued with the thoughts of the committed engineer Claude Bourguignon, and enriched by the teachings of François Bouchet and Pierre Masson, as well as the actions of the MABD (Mouvement de l’Agriculture Bio-Dynamique). The vines, which have been organic since 1999, were later converted to biodynamic viticulture and have been DEMETER-certified since 2006.
Terroirs
The 12-hectare estate stretches from Mittelwihr to Ribeauvillé. Halfway there, the estate sits on the sub-Vosgian hills of Zellenberg. The diversity of soils in the Ribeauvillé region (silt-sandstone, marl, marl-limestone, limestone, etc.) enables them to offer specific terroir and gastronomic wines, using all the Alsatian grape varieties.
