The demanding cuisine “Petit Jean” style at the Maison Rouge restaurant in Colmar
On the menu of the Maison Rouge restaurant: creative and delicate local cuisine.

High standards and creativity at the service of a local restaurant
At La Maison Rouge, the traditional aspects of the 11th century half-timbered building echo the refined and creative local cuisine of chef Jean Kuentz, known as “Petit Jean”.
Trained at the École Ferrandi and by chef Jean-François Piège, he received the title of Young Talent Gault & Millau in 2020.
A lover of good products, it is in the region that he gets his supplies as a priority to compose new suggestions every week.
In winter, the chef concocts dishes based on game, truffles, scallops, or even root vegetables.
In the spring, the former assistant to renowned chef Jean François Piège sublimates products such as suckling lamb from the Pyrenees, morels and asparagus.
Good local cuisine in Colmar
Every week, new suggestions are invited into the local cuisine in Colmar. If you are lucky, you can taste the delicious “guinea fowl and foie gras” pâté en croute with a stuffing cut with a knife. Or the veal shank confit for 72 hours and its homemade mashed potatoes, a delight!
In summer, take a seat on the large flowered terrace and let yourself be guided by head sommelier Emmanuel and his selection of around ten rosé wines.
New exceptional grocery store
Petit Jean’s Garde Manger is finally open! The delicatessen imagined by the chef presents a fine selection of high gastronomy and local products. All unearthed for the epically curious from producers with exceptional know-how. “Let’s live happily, let’s eat, let’s drink!” “. It is through this thought that the chef links gastronomy to happiness. The shop is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 42 rue Vauban in Colmar, and on Sunday throughout the Christmas market period.
