The 6 courses are reduced versions of 2 starters, 2 main courses and 2 desserts from the menu served with several glasses of wine according to the formula taken.

Festive menus are accompanied by surprising and innovative pairings. Among others, a Foie Gras “Alain François”, pumpkin, vanilla and focaccia. Or a gingerbread, mandarin, Christmas spices, almond tile and mandarin sorbet.

A surprising story

The creator of the place is Murat Sancar, a graduate of the ESC business school in Troyes. He bought the old restaurant “Grain de Riz” to create a brand new sign.

The origin of the name

The Banquet of the Sophists, you may be wondering why the place is called that. It turns out that during research on the word “gastronomy” Murat Sancar came across a book called The Banquet of the Sophists written by Athenaeum in Rome towards the end of the 2nd century AD. The owner fell in love with the notion of banquet, conviviality, sharing and the pleasures of the table and therefore named his restaurant as well.
