Alsace gourmet at the table of L'Ami Fritz in Ottrott

The restaurant “L’Ami Fritz” proposes a traditional and greedy Alsatian cooking while using local products.

If there is a table to know on the Alsace Wine Route to satisfy your curiosity of regional gastronomy, it is that of the Ami Fritz, the restaurant in Ottrott! The establishment is located not far from Obernai and about thirty kilometers from Strasbourg. It allows visitors to discover the Mont Sainte Odile or the Vosges Piedmont and its vineyards.

In 1970, Jeanine & René Fritz took over this 18th century Alsatian Winstub . They embellish it and give it a new identity: a hotel-restaurant. Twenty years later, Patrick Fritz, his wife Sophie and their son took over the reins of the house. Convivial and generous, the couple as well as the teams of the Ami Fritz work daily in the good care of their customers. They elaborate home-made Alsatian dishes, greedy and refined. While Sophie is busy decorating the hotel, Patrick transforms his mother’s family kitchen into a gourmet Alsatian cuisine. A winning duo that was able to mix the codes of Alsatian folklore with more contemporary features.

Taking care to guarantee the freshness of the products and encouraging short circuits, it is with local producers that Chef Patrick Fritz, Master Chef of France since 2009, and his team enrich their inspiration.

The editors loved the pâté en croute, the civet of young Alsatian wild boar with Ottrott red wine, and the iced soufflé with old plum!

Only on request for a minimum of 10 people, Chef Patrick Fritz offers you to come and taste a piece of meat, cooked slowly on the spit in front of you, in the restaurant’s cellar.
