The story of the domaine is one of marriage between two historic winegrowing families in Saint-Hippolyte, and the coming together of these two skills. In 2003, Christiane Bléger and Marc Koeberlé, married since 1991, combined their centuries-old family business. Already HVE certified and awaiting organic certification for 8 ha, the estate continues to modernize thanks to Jean-Baptiste and Léon, the new generation.
Combining tradition and modernity, François Bléger renews every day the gestures that give birth and growth to elegant, racy wines from the different Alsatian grape varieties: Auxerrois, Muscat, Riesling, Pinot gris, Pinot noir and Gewurztraminer.
The estate’s cultivation practices aim to produce grapes of the highest quality, the only ones capable of giving birth to great wines.
Yields limited by short pruning, the absence of chemical fertilization, care influenced by organic methods and an exclusively manual harvest all contribute to this quality.
Faced with the eternal renewal of their profession, the passionate members of this family know how to combine the know-how of the elders with the modernity of the younger generations. Adaptation is the key word: adapting to the weather, to culture, but also to fashions and consumer demands, while always being “reasonable” in favor of people and the environment.
At the foot of the Haut-Koenigsbourg château, the estate extends over 25 hectares, where the 7 Alsatian grape varieties are grown. It includes parcels of Pinot Noir at the top of the village, used to make the famous Rouge de Saint-Hippolyte, and the Grand Cru du Glœckelberg, above Rodern.
