Domaine Bleger BY Windmuehl

Nestled in Saint-Hippolyte for three generations, Domaine Bleger continues the regional winemaking tradition. In the 1980s, Claude and his wife Chantal lovingly took up the family torch, moving the cellar to make it more accessible. They passed on their passion for the vines to their heirs, Maxime and Laetitia, who have been breathing new life into the estate for the past two years. A member of the Haut-Koenigsbourg wine brotherhood, it embodies Alsace’s authentic winegrowing heritage.

Work is underway to recreate a larger reception area, with a beautiful tasting cellar, to accommodate groups. This new room will also invite visitors to discover Alsace through other local products, in the form of aperitif boards to accompany the wines.

The estate’s 10 hectares of vines are spread over several terroirs in the communes of Bergheim, Orschwiller, Orschwihr and Saint-Hippolyte, whose sandy soils allow the fruit to come through clearly. These different terroirs produce, among others, a very good Rouge de Saint-Hippolyte, a Riesling Vieilles Vignes on granite arena, or a Grand Cru Altenberg at Bergheim, which has a subsoil rich in fossils.

An independent winegrower with a deep respect for nature, the domaine is committed to low yields in order to produce great quality wines. The estate takes the time to vinify certain cuvées in barrels, adding real value to its wines. Its aim is to take its small-vessel production to the next level, while remaining accessible to all.
