In the Freudenreich family, the art of winegrowing has been handed down from father to son since 1653, in Eguisheim. As a worthy heir, Julien-Arthur has recently taken over the management of the estate, following in the footsteps of his father Jean-Luc, who supports him. After studying in Rouffach and Beaune, the son is the 14th generation to work in the same house, in the heart of the picturesque village of Eguisheim.
Philosophy
In the family, know-how is passed on as well as a passion for wine and the winemaking profession. The Freudenreichs have always listened to nature, building a reasoned viticulture without seeking label recognition. Respecting and understanding the vines, using as few inputs as possible and living with the times are the spearhead of our efforts to produce top-quality wines to the best of our ability.
Terroirs
HVE-certified, the vineyard extends over 7 ha of the Eguisheim bench, including the Grand Cru Pfersigberg, where Gewurztraminer and Riesling are grown. This clay-limestone terroir brings great aromatic power and mineral elegance to the wines. The domaine prefers to vinify dry wines – including Gewurztraminer – that are a perfect accompaniment to French gastronomy.
The of heart
Riesling Grand Cru Pfersigberg was born on this renowned clay-limestone soil, which offers characteristic floral aromas. Its fine grapefruit acidity is a perfect match for fish or white meat dishes.
