Encounter and Dialogue have been the watchwords of my journey into the world of ceramics since the autumn of 2004, when I first crossed the threshold of a studio to practice this multi-faceted art.
An encounter between a material that is both docile and demanding, and the many worlds of ceramics: shaping techniques, glazes, firings, patinas, staging.../...
Encounter and dialogue with myself, in this creative process that reveals hitherto dormant capacities and shapes the creator who gives life to the forms that the eye discerns in matter.
I make both utilitarian and decorative pieces, but I have a particular weakness for creating sculptures to which I breathe that breath of life that gives them a presence felt by everyone, depending on the resonance that is established between the piece and the eye that discovers it.
In my sculptural work, I give free rein to my imagination in a process that can start with a quick sketch, as well as that first hand-material contact that gives the work its initial orientation. And just as a child sees fantastic creatures in the clouds, my eye reads these presences suggested to me by the earth, and my hand gives birth to them.
