Exclusive to white wines
The Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg, the only international competition dedicated exclusively to the diversity of white wines, will hold its 27ᵉ edition on April 5 and 6, 2025 at Strasbourg’s Palais de la Musique et des Congrès.
Producers had until March 5, 2025 to enter their still and sparkling white wines, with a deadline for receipt of samples set for March 15, 2025, the first of which came from China and the USA, testifying to the competition’s international appeal.
The competition is structured around 12 white wine categories, including Chardonnay, Chenin, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon, Sylvaner, Viognier, white blends and other white varieties.
For the first time, it also features partially dealcoholized and dealcoholized wines, reflecting changing consumer trends.
A wide range of awards
Winners of the Grand Or and Grand Prix du Jury medals will receive a detailed tasting commentary, along with food and wine pairing suggestions.
Two VINOFED prizes will be awarded to the best still dry wine and the best sparkling dry wine.
Three “Coups de Cœur” will be awarded for the first entry, the best white wine with maceration (orange wine) and the best wine from an indigenous grape variety.
The organizers, Strasbourg Events, anticipate a broad representation of terroirs and white grape varieties from all over the world, with the participation of emerging countries keen to gain recognition from international experts.
An impressive score to beat
In 2024, 14 countries, including France, were awarded medals or trophies. This international event brought together 651 samples from 20 countries, evaluated by 70 experts from all over the world.
That year, Maison Ruhlmann-Schutz, Dambach-la-Ville, won the prestigious Grand Prix du Jury with its Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives 2021, an exceptional wine scoring an impressive 96 points. This distinction, a Grand Gold Medal, marks an important milestone in the history of the competition, with a score never achieved before.
