Jean KUENTZ revisits the spirit of the Maison Rouge

Passionate about cooking from an early age, Jean had the opportunity to be trained at the Ferrandi School and quickly integrate Alain Dutournier’s brigade at the Carré des Feuillants.
He then joined the teams of Jean-François Piège, where he developed his taste for high standards and perfection.

A hard worker, he quickly climbed the ladder to become Jean-François Piège’s assistant at the “Grand Restaurant” in Paris.

Today, back in Alsace, he aims, with his talent and creativity, to develop his own cuisine by combining his experience and the spirit of the Maison Rouge in Colmar.

A historic and unique setting

Close to Little Venice and the Covered Market, in the heart of the historic center of Colmar. The Maison Rouge welcomes you in an 11th century building.

The restaurant, in its contemporary version, has become a Colmarian institution thanks to a resolutely local cuisine, homemade, and a warm welcome.

Today, a new page is being written: while keeping the spirit of the place, the takeover of the establishment by Jean and his father allows evolutions that will make you spend a pleasant, friendly and warm moment at the Maison Rouge.

It is not only on the plate that the chef’s attention is focused: fruit juices, beer, coffee, bread, and of course wine are also at the heart of his concerns.
The taste, the enhancement of the products and the simplicity best characterize the cuisine of Petit Jean.

A cuisine with local colors.

If the cuisine of the Maison Rouge retains a traditional side, the chef’s love for good products, preferably local and his desire to offer only “homemade” will dictate the evolution of the menu over the seasons.
