Nature as a friend, the estate acts with respect for the product

History

After 30 years in the vineyards, Cathy and Marc accompany their children Audrey and Loïc, in the launch of winemaking and marketing in 2019. The transmission of the wine know-how and the passion of the profession since the great-grandfather, played a dominating role. Versatility and mutual aid make the success of the domain. The Weinzaepfel are, at the same time, a solid unit, while each holding a key role. This emotional closeness is the signature of this place full of positive energy. With great consideration and pleasure, they offer their customers exceptional privileged and convivial moments.

Philosophy

Nature as a friend, the domain acts in the respect of the product, the soils and the biodiversity. Selection of vines, little
of tillage, plant cover and hives nearby, the family also relies on lunar cycles since 2018 for all their activities. Now certified organic, the estate takes care of very old vines – some exceeding 80 years! – which are at the origin of the richness of its wines. Some methods used are just as rare and time-consuming, including the splitting of juices in different vats during winemaking, which aims to keep only the best.

The terroirs

Located at the foot of the highest peak of the Vosges, the farm covers 12 ha and includes the renowned Mittelbourg, future Premier Cru, Finkennest (“nest of finches”) whose domain has the monopoly, as well as Liebourg. The geological and climatic diversity of the estate, offers cuvées with their own qualities and identity; And attention to detail results in gourmet, balanced and aroma-rich wines.

Did you know?

Built in 1253 on the ramparts of Soultz, the winegrower’s house dates from the Cistercian era and housed a former convent. Today there remains a magnificent original vaulted cellar, which envelops and protects, with its natural freshness, the wines at rest.

Wine tourism

The estate offers many events depending on the seasons, as well as unique and customizable formulas. High-end and friendly meetings to be followed closely!

The coup de ❤

Riesling W comes from two plots of old vines that are more than 80 years old. The grapes are harvested at the Finkennest (“finches’ nest”) above Mittelburg when they are perfectly ripe. We love its fresh and floral scents, rare for such a young wine, its salinity typical of the terroir and its very long length in the mouth. It goes very well with a Baeckeoffe with 5 fish.
