In the heart of Strasbourg is a place dedicated to Lebanese cuisine. For more than 20 years, the restaurant Au Cèdre has been offering varied dishes to discover or simply appreciate the richness of Lebanese food.

Set sail outside Alsace Au Cèdre, the Lebanese restaurant in Strasbourg! In the heart of the Krutenau district, this property pays tribute to traditional Lebanese cuisine. Breathing conviviality and authenticity, the dishes served here reveal all the oriental and Mediterranean perfumes.

In the restaurant, we start gently with the mezze to share, we continue with the marinated grills and we finish with the gourmet baklawas. All dishes are prepared on site by Lebanese cooks: Joseph Boukhalil and Nabil Makhoul. They transmit their love and knowledge of Lebanese specialties through a wide choice of dishes.

Lebanese cuisine is mainly based on fresh vegetables, cereals, aromatic herbs, marinated grills and Mediterranean fish. It is therefore above all a fresh and hospitable cuisine. She also uses different spices that, with accuracy, bring exquisite oriental flavors.

The wine list is also well stocked. Even if it is not the first thing that comes to mind when talking about Lebanese specialties, Lebanon is one of the very first wine producers in history. The unique climate and rocky soil bring to Lebanese wine its particularity and authenticity.

The excellence of Lebanese culinary traditions in Strasbourg

At the head of the brand since its opening, Elias Tachy is an otolaryngologist doctor. He first came to France at the age of 18 to study medicine. After graduating, he opened his practice in Sélestat. But it was only at the age of 40 that he decided to start opening a Lebanese restaurant. His wish was to create a place where he could make known the Lebanese cuisine and where the Lebanese of Strasbourg would meet.

The restaurant is one of the first Lebanese in Strasbourg and Elias Tachy immediately surrounded himself well. Originally from Lebanon, he has called on Lebanese chefs who know the cuisine he wants to convey at his fingertips and with whom he has developed the wide selection of Lebanese dishes now available on the menu.

It is a well-known address in Strasbourg, and for good reason: for 23 years, the restaurant has been paying tribute to Lebanese cuisine. A name evocative of respectful Lebanese cuisine

Elias Tachy chose the name “Cedar” because it is one of the symbols of Lebanon. These are large, majestic trees, most of which are found in northern Lebanon. There are only a few hundred of them, but whose forests have recently been reforested to the delight of future generations.

In this way, the cedar pays tribute to Lebanon by inviting the Alsatian population to discover Lebanese dishes. Even if they are very different from those we are used to eating in Alsace, they are delicious and rigorously mix the different textures and flavors of the products they use.

Discover on their website their flagship specialties as well as their composition to better understand the know-how of Lebanese cuisine. You can make an appointment at the restaurant to see the richness that Elias Tachy has been highlighting for more than a quarter of a century.

Also note, from 1 to 300 people, the restaurant offers a catering service. The compositions are custom-made and the decoration and service are made on site.

Do not hesitate to discover their specialties and call on them for your banquets, weddings or seminars.
